Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, LAKR’s bowling unit rose to the occasion with discipline and precision. Early wickets in the powerplay set the tone, with Shadley van Schalkwyk and Corne Dry making early inroads into the opposition’s lineup. Captain Jason Holder and the ever-reliable Sunil Narine built on the momentum, applying pressure with tight spells and key dismissals. The collective bowling effort restricted MI New York to a modest 142, putting the Knights in a strong position at the halfway mark. It was now up to the batters to complete the job and carry LAKR over the line.

The chase began with an early hiccup, but Unmukt Chand and Alex Hales steadied the ship with a solid stand. As the innings progressed, the surface became more challenging and made strokeplay increasingly difficult. Chand displayed immense grit, anchoring the innings with a well-compiled half-century. However, the conditions kept getting tougher to bat with the new batters taking that extra bit of time to settle as the Knights continued playing catch up. Despite a valiant effort and a fighting spirit that defined the run-chase, the Knights fell agonisingly short by just 6 runs. The LAKR batters tried their level best yet ended up on the wrong side of the result. They will be aiming to come back strong in their next game.
